Sadly, towards the end of the show, I was running a bit late, and the last song was *not* a long song. And I had such a good track planned. But Matmos is definitely a worthy consolation prize (I've been trying to work 'em into the show again).

I was also trying to fit Pig Destroyer in at the end of the first hour, but it didn't work, not even with all their short songs. Bizarre, no?

Overall, things went very well. Better planning and just me getting used to doing all the studio stuff made today's experience very enjoyable compared to all the stress last week.

I'm planning a metal hour next week, it should be fun. Classic and current, as usual. I'll get PD in there.

In other news, I'm getting sick of hearing M.I.A. on the radio. I love Kala, but c'mon! It's getting played out.

Right now I am listening to "Jimmy."

The show went alright this week. I was scrambling during the first half-hour or so because I only planned what songs to play, and not the order for them, which would've helped me a great deal.

I was going to play DEEFHOOF, but completely forgot. Maybe next week.

I must learn how to say "Uusitalo" properly, it's bothering me so much!

Mixed Feelings

I recently watched the film True Stories, which was directed and co-written by David Byrne. My reaction is very mixed; I don't know if it's the best or worst movie ever, but I'm towards worst since I was somewhat bored while I was watching it. I guess I just didn't "get it." I laughed at a few things, but the technical aspects of the film (lighting, editing, cinematography) and even some of the script were just amateur and terrible. Was it too quirky and ridiculous for its own good? That's what I'm thinking. I did appreciate the acting talent, though. John Goodman is the bomb and his character was what kept me watching. His song near the end was Genius. If only the film were made by a different David... I'm glad Byrne has mostly stuck to music since the film.

New Blog, First Show, First Post

Wow, I haven't had an internet presence in a long time. It feels weird. Anyhoo, I plan on using this blog for playlists for my radio show, My Little Underground (Monday night/Tuesday morning Midnight-2AM), in addition to my thoughts/comments about music and perhaps some non-music related things (comments on movies, comics/manga, TV, events in my life, etc.). We'll see.

Playlist from my first show (January 15, 2008):

24. Fire Engines "Meat Whiplash" Hungry Beat (2007)
25. Aphex Twin "Blue Calx" Selected Ambient Works, Volume 2 (1994)

The theme of the show was mostly all-time favorite songs/bands/artists with some favorites of 2007. I wasn't all that in touch with new music throughout '07, otherwise I would have played more newer stuff.

And I'd probably make a list of favorite albums of '07. Eh, I'm still going to. Here:

1. M.I.A. - Kala
2. Pig Destroyer - Phantom Limb
3. PJ Harvey - White Chalk
4. Pelican - City Of Echoes
5. Fire Engines - Hungry Beat (Reissue, but still excellent)

Sadly, Björk's Volta is not on this list. It was such a disappointment. Maybe I'll edit this little list later if I catch up on '07 tunes.
